Company Profile

Riverport Insurance Company
Company Overview
Riverport was formed in 1989 as a Minnesota-only reciprocal insurer. At the time, we were known as Nonprofits’ Insurance Association, An Interinsurance Exchange, and we were dedicated to insuring only
501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. In 2002, Nonprofits’ Insurance Association was reorganized as a stock insurance company to allow for expansion into additional states and became known as Nonprofits Insurance Company. To further that expansion, in 2004 Nonprofits Insurance Company merged with its affiliate, Riverport Insurance Company of California and became Riverport Insurance Company.
Today, we continue to provide insurance products and services to nonprofit and for-profit social service, and charitable organizations through our Human Services Program. We have grown from our Minnesota roots; we are now an admitted insurer in 49 states and the District of Columbia.
We also provide customized and Specialty Underwriting Programs designed to address the alternative risk financing objectives of our customers. We serve local governmental and other specialty entities on both a direct and reinsurance basis. These entities include municipalities, townships, contractors and manufacturers. We also assist both individual companies and associations of companies in structuring alternative property-casualty insurance programs where they participate in the risk along with us.
Riverport is a member company of W. R. Berkley Corporation.
